Overall learning outcomes:

KNOWLEDGE

The learner will be able to:

a) develop and practice a range of interventions and feedback skills relevant to the functions of supervision;

b) enable the supervisor to develop their own informed style and approach to supervision, integrating theory and practice;

c) keep the necessary documentation about clients/supervisees in an ethical way;

d) write and present their professional work to other colleagues and professionals in Journals, Conferences, Congress, etc.;

e) conduct research in the field of supervision and present the findings;

f) develop awareness of ethical and professional issues in order to enhance the professional identity of the supervisor and sustain good standards and practice of both Supervisor and Supervisee.

SKILLS

The learner will be able to:

a) apply various theories, models, methods and approaches in Supervision of Psychotherapy;

b) demonstrate personal and professional competences in Supervision of Psychotherapy;

c) develop high quality negotiation skills and practicing of the presence;

d) practice dialogical attitude;

e) differentiate supervision form psychotherapy work;

f) design clear supervision contract;

g) co-create relational supervision field;

h) apply continuous assessment of the supervisory process such as: counter-transference, parallel process, triangulation of the roles, shame and guilt, ethical consideration, and further planning of therapy;

i) practice ongoing research of the relevant theoretical and methodological concepts in literature and in the field in order to continue their learning process;

j) make a comprehensive literature review in the field of psychotherapy supervision;

k) show the difference in quality and reliability of available literature in the field;

l) plan continuous hyper-vision.

Entry requirements:

• An MQF/EQF Level 7 with a minimum of 90ECTS in Psychotherapy

• Psychotherapy warrant/license (in any approach in psychotherapy) issued by the relevant national or European body,

• At least 4 years of practicing psychotherapy as licensed practitioner, with a one year being equivalent to a minimum of 20 contact hours per week.

General assessment:

All exams in this programme are designed in a way that offers students different ways of demonstrating their knowledge. The general stand is that assessment should be organized in a way that offers support and encouragement for all learners and prevents the onset of test anxiety. We assess learning outcomes not learners themselves. Discussion and critical opinion is expected, rather than merely reproducing learned material.

Target group:

This programme is targeted for those professionals who would like to become experts/specialists in supervision in psychotherapy i.e. Psychotherapy supervisors.

​

The profile of the targeted group is for:

• warranted/registered psychotherapists (depending on the legal requirements of the country in which they practice) who are

- practitioners from any psychotherapy modality;

- regular full member of not less than 4 years with a recognized national association for the modality that they come from or other association, such as the EAP and the EAGT;

- minimum of four full-time years in psychotherapy practice after graduating in the Course which is required for registration or warranting in the country of origin and/or EAP and EAGT (whereby one year is the equivalent of 20 client contact hours per week as confirmed by the applicant’s supervisor);

- warranted/registered and practicing psychotherapists who are regularly engaged in Continuous Professional Development according to requirements established by the regulating bodies of their country/or of the recognized association of which they are members (such as EAGT/or EAP).

 

Students who complete this programme can work as Supervisors in psychotherapy subject to meeting other national requirements as stipulated by national laws to practice as Supervisors. 
 

Supervisors could offer their services to psychotherapists from different modalities within services, public and mental health organizations/(e.g. in educational, clinical, mental health, church contexts, etc) and/or privately.
